In May, his first major retrospective was launched, organized by the Munich gallerist Hans Goltz. A total of 362 works from the period 1903 to 1920 were exhibited. Shortly thereafter, one of the first monographs about him was published, titled Paul Klee in the series Junge Kunst. In a revised edition of this art-historically significant volume, Klee's early years of creation are illuminated through his major works. These years were notably shaped by his encounters with Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc, as well as the trip to Tunisia with August Macke and Louis Moilliet. The biography authorized by Paul Klee himself, supplemented with the missing life dates and an essay by a renowned Klee expert, successfully completes this beautifully designed volume.
