Due to the ongoing devaluation, belittlement, and rejection of women's charisms and vocations by the exclusively male and celibate leadership in the institutional church, countless competencies and talents are being lost to the people of God. These are urgently needed in the current pastoral and spiritual situation. The actual drama of the increasing departure of women from the church has evidently not yet been grasped by this leadership, which either turns a blind eye to it or does not take it seriously. The quote comes from a nationwide survey involving more than 200 pastoral and community workers. It was conducted in 2012 by Regina Nagel, an economic psychologist and community worker herself.
