Judaism is not a foreign religion for Christians, but rather the root of our Christian identity. However, how much the texts from which we derive our identity are rooted in Judaism of their time has so far been little reflected in liturgy and proclamation. The interpretation of New Testament texts is still not free from anti-Jewish tendencies. In this book, a team with exegetical expertise and practical experience interprets the Sunday and feast day gospels of the liturgical year A (primarily from the Gospel of Matthew). Readers are provided with aids to understand the gospels as Jewish texts and to interpret them accordingly. This not only enhances the understanding of Judaism and a deeper understanding of Jesus Christ but also contributes to better interfaith relations.
