Many books describe the Holy Spirit by compiling relevant Bible verses on various topics and questions. This is certainly a good way to examine the subject comprehensively and in detail. However, it makes it somewhat difficult to maintain the context of the biblical texts. Therefore, the book takes a different approach. In the New Testament, important statements about the Holy Spirit can primarily be found in the writings of John, Paul, and Luke. It is noticeable that each of these authors has a distinct focus and unfolds the teaching about the Holy Spirit in a few key texts. While Luke emphasizes the equipping for service, Paul focuses on the conduct of life and the gifts of the Spirit. In contrast, John particularly underscores that the Holy Spirit is a person and takes the place of Jesus on earth.
