"I want to live in a palace made of bird feathers," said Sulamith, the most beautiful of King Solomon's women, one day to the king. "You must build it for me!" The same applies to the animal tales from Turkey, the second volume of the series "Animal Tales of Many Peoples": they do not preach a moral, but rather tell vividly and colorfully, often joyfully, about life. However, this life, of which they were a part and perhaps still are at times, often unfolds today in forms that are unfamiliar to us. In Turkey, tales were mostly told among adults. Children could listen, just as they often do today, staying up late during festivities and sometimes falling asleep in their chairs. The diverse life experiences of ordinary people form the backdrop. Some tales are very old and come from far away - from India, Persia, or Arabia. Alexander Gruber has gathered all those that are collected here.
