Summer 1943: Fritz Kolbe, an official in the Foreign Office, becomes convinced that only a military defeat can end the terror regime of the Nazis. He smuggles highly classified documents out of the agency and brings the sensitive material to Switzerland. Among these is the exact layout of Hitler's headquarters. In Bern, Kolbe makes contact with the Americans and continues his dangerous double life. However, worn down by the constant fear of being discovered, Kolbe is on the verge of giving up.
