Jupp Schulte, a successful investigator with the Detmold police, has become too uncomfortable for his superiors. Along with four other police officers, he is transferred to the remote Lippe region. Initially bored, Schulte starts to sift through an old case file from 2008. At that time, a well-known Detmold real estate agent was found dead in a brothel. Since it was assumed to be a natural death, the investigation was closed, but Schulte discovers inconsistencies. When he begins to question old witnesses, he alerts the hitman from that time. A new murder is soon to follow, and the peace is shattered for Jupp Schulte and his colleagues.
