Animal Farm
George Orwell's timeless and relevant allegorical novel – a sharp satire on the blind march of an oppressed society towards totalitarianism.
"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
A farm is taken over by its overworked, mistreated animals. With burning idealism and moving slogans, they set out to create a paradise of progress, justice, and equality. Thus, the stage is set for one of the most insightful satirical fables ever written – a sharp-edged tale for adults that documents the evolution from rebellion against tyranny to an equally dreadful totalitarianism.
When Animal Farm was first published, Stalinist Russia was the target. Today, it is devastatingly clear that anywhere and anytime freedom is attacked, under whatever banner, the cutting clarity and brutal humor of George Orwell's masterpiece hold a meaning and message that remains shockingly fresh.
