During their first summer apart, four teenage girls who have been best friends since childhood stay connected through a shared, two-part pair of jeans that magically adapts to each of their figures and influences their attitudes toward their different summer experiences. Throughout the summer vacation, the long-time friends Lena, Tibby, Carmen, and Bridget embark on adventures that they share through a pair of jeans they have decided will be worn by all of them, capturing all their stories.
