Product details

"Fire and Other Stories" is the most comprehensive and diverse collection of Jack London's short stories available in paperback. This outstanding volume brings together twenty-five of London's best tales, including a dozen of his remarkable Klondike stories, vivid narratives from the far North where rugged individuals like the Malemute Kid confront the violence of both man and nature during the Gold Rush era. Also included are short masterpieces from his later work, as well as six stories that are not available in any other paperback edition. Here, alongside London's famous adventures in the wilderness and fiery desperados, are portraits of workers, immigrants, and exotic outsiders: characters that represent the entirety of London's productive, imaginative career, in tales that are regarded worldwide as some of the most exciting short stories ever written.

About the Author: Jack London (1876–1916) was born John Chaney in Pennsylvania, USA. In 1896, he was swept up by the Gold Rush to the Klondike River in northwestern Canada, which inspired "The Call of the Wild" (1903) and "White Fang" (1906). London is one of the most widely read authors in the world.
