About the Author:
L. David Marquet, a top graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, commanded the nuclear-powered submarine USS Santa Fe from 1999 to 2001. The Santa Fe received numerous awards as the most improved ship in the Pacific and as the most combat-effective ship in the fleet. Since leaving the Navy, he has worked as an executive consultant with companies across the country. He also teaches leadership at the graduate level at Columbia University and is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
