One of the central promises of modernity to its contemporaries is: Every person can and should urgently work on their improvement, ideally to perfection. However, the list of psychological problems associated with this perfectionism continues to grow: depression, eating and obsessive disorders, suicidal thoughts, chronic fatigue syndrome, social anxieties, a tendency towards cosmetic surgery, and burnout.
