In the five teaching sequences of this book, the colors blue, red, yellow, green, and the color mix "colorful" are the focus. For each color, there are notes on symbolism, idioms, and an explorer sheet with more exciting information. An artist biography and a selected artwork are presented. Additionally, there is a design task for each color: students mix shades of green to create a collage, paint an abstract picture in various shades of yellow, or design a colorful cityscape in 3D. For independent work, there are suggestions for further design tasks such as cave painting, cork printing, or nature collages, as well as interdisciplinary offerings for singing, crafting, poetry, and theater.
