The volume brings together writings and essays by Bernhard Welte, in which the human being as a person is at the center. In dialogue with the natural sciences of his time, the Freiburg religious philosopher formulates a response to the possibility of human freedom. On the other hand, he develops an interpretation of humanity and its personal dignity that is interested in the fundamental phenomena of existence, where the encounter with another person is addressed as a foundational experience of freedom. From this, one can expect significant impulses for answering the question of humanity and its personal dignity—both in Welte's time and in the present.
