The work examines the possibility of creating a European copyright as a regulation. After analyzing the Union's competencies in copyright, the author compares the previously pursued harmonization method through directives with a potential Union copyright regulation. He then explores which substantive areas of copyright, in light of the Union's competencies, could be part of a copyright regulation. Finally, he investigates whether a copyright regulation would necessarily have to displace national copyrights or if a parallel existence of Union copyright and national copyrights is possible.
