The right embrace between lovers is an art! If it is too light, it lacks intimacy. If it is too tight, it takes away the breath. Gioconda Belli has found a beautiful parable for the perfect embrace in her short story: The seed of a bougainvillea, that vine which unfolds a brilliant display of flowers in summer, is blown by the wind into a garden, where it lands next to a large pine tree. There, it sinks into the earth, transforms into a sprout, and begins to grow. The old tree, towering far above the garden wall, becomes a support for the young shoot. The bougainvillea climbs higher and higher on it, driven by a wild desire to see over the wall into the bustling city. The tree loves the exuberance and enthusiasm of the young vine, and in return, it is adorned with the splendor of its flowers, which wrap around each of its branches.
