German, Eduardo Galeano, 2018Product details
"Strange, isn't it? In the past, death used to scare me. Now it makes me curious. I wonder what it must be like?" This is how Eduardo Galeano has an old woman ask in one of his last stories. Under the title "Garabatos - Scribbles," texts were meant to appear that contained traces of what the author thought about death. The project remained unfinished. Eduardo Galeano passed away on April 13, 2015, and his "Scribbles" are now published alongside the volume "Story Hunters," a collection of miniatures he wrote in 2012 and 2013, which are now available for the first time in German translation. One last time, finely crafted anecdotes testify to the author's art of telling unheard stories with ease and humor, which transcend themselves and circle around Galeano's lifelong theme: the relationship between the powerful and the powerless, oppressors and the oppressed.
