Product details
For the first time, an examination of the collected works of the Danish poet and writer Adam Oehlenschläger (1779-1850) is presented in German. As an aspiring language artist, he did not study literary science at the University of Copenhagen, but instead spent eight semesters on a practical educational journey as a scholarship holder in several centers across Europe: Halle, Weimar, Coppet, Rome, Paris, and Berlin, where he wrote, read, and prepared for publication the best of his dramas in both Danish and German. His audience included Steffens, Schleiermacher, Goethe, Madame de Staël, the Schlegel brothers, and other German poets. A discourse on the genres of his writings is initiated, and Oehlenschläger's aesthetics of power, which developed in connection with Hans Christian Ørsted and Bertel Thorvaldsen, is presented.
