Bosnia and Herzegovina experienced an ethnically defined civil war from 1992 to 1995. As a result, the conflicting parties faced each other with irreconcilable historical narratives. Can historical policy processes and conflicts over history bring about a change in competing memories and pave the way for reconciliation? The book initially discusses this question through theoretical studies on memory and conceptual works on the processes of historical policy. It then uses the insights gained to explore the possibilities and limitations of efforts for reconciliation through a longitudinal study on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
