Children are confronted with marginalization early in their reality. Children's books about outsiders provide them with the opportunity to engage with this issue and draw conclusions about their own lives. This publication focuses on these books. It begins with a discussion on problem-oriented children's literature and a pedagogical-sociological overview of the issue. Based on these discussions, it showcases the diversity and complexity of the representation of the problem, characteristics, and effects of problem-oriented texts about outsiders through reviews and book analyses. The emphasis is on engaging with contemporary books, although works from other eras are also briefly presented to illustrate the evolution of representation and the intentions of the authors.
