Coaching as a form of psychosocial counseling is booming. Not only have clients expanded their areas of interest, but providers have also largely extended their focus to the realm of life counseling – a detrimental development, according to the author. On one hand, coaching is defined as job-related counseling, while on the other hand, coaches are often poorly or not at all trained for psychosocial issues. This work seeks to integrate coaching into the method of life counseling and develops a new, well-founded, and legally legitimized form of psychosocial counseling, called: Guiding.
