The consequences of the abusive use of addictive substances - including so-called legal drugs like alcohol, nicotine, and psychotropic medications - are evident in our society. Drug use and related criminal activities, as well as the destruction of health and life opportunities, are part of everyday reality. For years, efforts have been made to address the issue of substance abuse through the development of various prevention concepts. There is a societal consensus that prevention must take on a greater significance than it has so far. This volume aims to present and assess the current state of efforts in the field of addiction prevention. At the same time, it seeks to contribute to understanding the underlying issues of addiction problems.
