Living is a fundamental human need and has become the most important factor for many in terms of perceived quality of life. The ongoing development of new and complex technologies, which are increasingly infiltrating households in the form of smart products, is leading to a revolutionary change. The house itself is losing its neutral status as a protective space for privacy and is becoming a personal, individually customizable tool as well as an organizational platform for one's life. The interaction with technology and the handling of systems and devices has become normal for modern individuals, regardless of age. The key technology behind this development is networking technology, which allows for the efficient and rapid processing of information. Just as the brain of a living being functions and produces intelligence through the countless connections between neurons, the smart home operates in a similar manner. This work analyzes, based on a survey, how daily life in a smart home affects the perceived quality of life of its residents. Based on real experiences, potential future trends and developments can be derived.
