Product details

The study examines the children's room as a mode of production and reproduction of social inequality. It is assumed that contemporary semantics of childhood and space not only lead to general spatializations and placements of childhood but also reveal specific programs and calculations related to the localization of childhood that are clearly connected to the social status of the parents. It is believed that the interplay of the calculations that parents associate with their child's room and the meanings attributed to their own room by the children varies depending on the socio-structural background of the families. The aim of the investigation is to empirically uncover these concrete forms of interaction as spatialization programs of childhood.
