Product details
What lies behind the term 'literary wonder girl,' which has been circulating as a label for the literature of young German female authors for several years? This work examines the staging of the authors and their texts within the literary scene. The context of gender studies provides an appropriate theoretical framework to uncover the constructions of femininity that occur in the staging process. Three 'wonder girls'—Karen Duve, Jenny Erpenbeck, and Alexa Hennig von Lange—are presented, each representing different ways to position oneself within the mediated literary scene. In addition to analyzing exemplary texts, the reception by literary criticism is also taken into account, as well as the staging and self-staging of the authors.
