Comparative education is considered a relatively young sub-discipline of educational science. Friedrich Schneider is seen as one of its founders and promoters. This work biographically examines Schneider's life and work and analyzes his texts on comparative education. In the context of his further development of the theory of comparative education towards a European education, Schneider's later publications are considered. A look at the reception illustrates Schneider's work, his visionary ideas, and their impact in the present.
