The system of functional self-administration is contextualized in the current discussion of results-oriented administrative management using the example of the chambers of crafts. In this context, the functions of the chambers of crafts and their inherent control options are critically examined against the backdrop of the transfer of new tasks to the chambers. It becomes evident in a paradigmatic manner how societal, professional, and social interests intertwine with state forms and functions in the traditional model of economic self-administration through public law corporations.
