The process of internal decision-making within sectoral trade unions has received little attention in the debate about this new type of union. However, this work demonstrates that the internal dynamics of sectoral trade unions are also of legal interest. First, their commitment to a democratic organizational structure is highlighted, showing differences compared to the large unified unions. It is then explained that the majority of established sectoral trade unions are essentially democratically organized, although the statutes of all established sectoral trade unions exhibit at least partial democratic deficits. Finally, the consequences of a lack of democratic union structure are analyzed.
