This book examines whether the existing regulations of German law, such as the provisions of inheritance law, data protection law, and the Basic Law, are applicable to digital estates and whether they pose obstacles to inheritance. In recent years, digital estates have increasingly come into focus in legal literature. Every individual produces large amounts of digital data. The author addresses the question of how to handle this data after the individual's death. So far, the German legislator has not enacted any specific regulations regarding digital estates. Additionally, the book looks at the legal situation in the USA, where some states have already established regulations concerning digital estates.
