The reception of literary works beyond the boundaries of the language and geopolitical areas in which they were created is influenced by a variety of literary and extraliterary factors, as well as by the activities of specific mediation instances. This study examines the reception of Swiss-German literature in Romania after 1945 and sheds light on its cultural-political and economic background. It traces the contrasts between the period from 1945 to 1989 and the time from the turning point to the present, as well as the changing selection criteria in the mediation of foreign and Swiss-German literature. The activities of selected mediators (publishers, editors, translators, literary scholars) are approached from a literary sociological perspective, emphasizing the context of use of the text and aspects of literary distribution. The reception trajectories of individual works are illustrated through case studies that demonstrate the significance and impact of literary and extraliterary factors.
