Revisionism has recently regained interest. This work provides an overview of its emergence and its assessment in the literature. However, it primarily highlights the perspective that fundamentally shapes Bernstein's thinking. By linking, on one hand, to the concept of paradigm and its application to revisionism, and on the other hand, through the analogy of the contemporary art form of the panorama, the metatheoretical determinants of revisionist thought are elaborated and characterized as specific to the age of industry.
