Herbert Lüthy (1918-2002), one of the most significant Swiss historians and essayists of the 20th century, gained international recognition for his virtuoso combination of academic historiography and journalism. The seven-volume collected works published since 2005 compile his scholarly and essayistic writings, making them accessible once again. However, his satirical history of Switzerland, which he created as a precocious high school student between 1933 and 1935 during the time of the emerging "Spiritual Defense," has remained unknown. This witty youthful prank was published anonymously in 1962 as the "Picture Manuscript of Ennenda" for a small circle of insiders and is long out of print. In this current edition, this chronicle appears for the first time under the author's name.
