Product details
The interdisciplinary work, which represents the first German-language monograph on this topic, examines the life and work of the Austrian painter and writer Hildegard Jone (1891-1963) in its cultural contexts: late Viennese Expressionism, Hagenbund, Der Brenner, Schönberg Circle, Die Schildgenossen, and other Catholic magazines from the 1930s to the 1950s. Special attention is given to Jone's friendship with Anton Webern, who based all his vocal works on Jone's texts after 1933. A separate chapter is dedicated to certain aspects of Webern's "monistic" worldview, his identificatory reading behavior focused on intellectual-emotional content, and the texts he set to music.
