Product details
Horoscopes have been a staple in the German press since the 1950s, yet they have been somewhat neglected by text linguistics and studied only in isolated aspects. This work fills that gap: it presents a model for holistic text type analysis that connects external and internal text factors in an integrative approach. The application of the model to horoscopes is based on texts from various types of magazines (women's, youth, program magazines, and news magazines) to highlight not only the commonalities of the text type 'horoscope' but also the magazine-specific peculiarities. The work concludes with a look at the didactic potential of horoscopes.
