Young people must assert themselves in a rapidly changing world without losing their inner continuity and connection to their roots. Increasing individualization and the influence of modern media compel them to constantly adapt to new situations and integrate these into their identity. How do the changed conditions affect the ethnic self-understanding of young Slovenians in Carinthia? The book aims to explore the answers to this and similar questions through the life stories and biographical narratives of young people. As a key result, ten patterns of identification are described based on corresponding life worlds: these make it understandable and relatable why young Slovenians identify with their ethnicity or distance themselves from it.
