This study addresses the specifics of information management in medium-sized enterprises. The analysis, which is primarily economically oriented, discusses three areas: the potentials and risks of information technology (IT), the organizational determinants of IT usage, and the possibilities for adapting information management to the characteristics of medium-sized companies. The empirical verification of the theoretical statements provides a nuanced picture of the effects of adequate information management on organizational change and the competitiveness of medium-sized enterprises. There are also some differences observed between German and French companies.
