Urban development as well as climate protection and climate adaptation are the key issues for urban and regional planning in the coming decades. The amendments to the Building Code in 2011 and 2013 addressed these challenges. Planning practice now faces a variety of questions, including the evaluation of planning and enforcement instruments, the significance of renovation and urban redevelopment measures, the requirements for informal planning concepts, the management of noise protection, and land consumption. These issues were presented and discussed at the scientific conference on urban development - professional and legal questions of implementation. The conference proceedings serve as a resource for planning practice to tackle sustainable urban development aligned with the concept of urban development.
