Product details
In recent years, the concept of Target Costing has evolved from a pioneering idea to an accepted principle for successful product development. However, merely considering customer requirements for target cost determination is not sufficient, as customer-oriented quality means that these requirements must be transformed into suitable product and process characteristics through a transparent and traceable process. This necessitates the integration of Target Costing with the concept of Quality Function Deployment to systematically derive product features, their components, and processes from customer requirements. The combination of both concepts, along with the addition of a lifecycle perspective, leads to integrated quality and cost planning, which is illustrated here using the example of suppliers in the automotive industry.
