The Portuguese author Fernando Pessoa and the Brazilian author Clarice Lispector shape literary modernism. The examination of the subjects they chose reveals many parallels. Pessoa and Lispector elevate the diversity of souls, the fragmentation of the self, and depersonalization to the themes of their poetry and prose, respectively. Especially Lispector's debut novel "Near to the Wild Heart" exhibits these characteristics. An intertextual analysis of Lispector's novel and Pessoa's three main heteronyms, Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis, and Álvaro de Campos, results in two commonalities: the triangle that appears as an intertextual pattern and architextual references in the sense of Gérard Genette.
