The author deals with the Polish doctor, educator, and children's book author Janusz Korczak. In his writings, he described a philosophy of life that awakens joy in living, especially the joy of living with children, and inspires parents and educators to respect each child as a human being. With his pedagogy of respect, he does not offer educational recipes or solutions to parenting problems. Rather, educating means living with children. Gunda Schneider-Flume has reflected on daily life with her three children in conversation with Korczak's thoughts: it is not about ideals to be realized or role models to be achieved, but about recognizing the individuality of children so that they can develop and soar on their own.
