In educational discussions, the focus is always on the cultural diversity and identity of children across various topics. This book attempts to identify culturally relevant characteristics through the perceptions and experiences of children themselves regarding clothing practices. Approaches from social science clothing research, which view clothing as a form of communication or as a vestimentary operation, provide access to the expressions of the child as a clothing user. From developmental aspects and socialization theoretical dimensions, central categories can be established - societal image, gender image, ethical identity, self-image - which serve as a framework for vestimentary concepts.
