The focus of the investigations is on the communication space of international tax consulting. The ongoing process of globalization, as well as the complexity of national tax law provisions, creates a stable demand for cross-border tax consulting services, which are often deliberately provided in the native language of clients by law firms and consulting companies. Understanding client concerns and addressing them appropriately and effectively requires consultants to possess specific communicative competencies in a foreign language. Using the consulting firm Rödl & Partner as an example, the study provides a detailed description and analysis of the multifaceted requirements impacting the communication space of international tax consulting, initially revealing the range of communicative competencies required in the profession. The second part then demonstrates the step-by-step approach to creating and utilizing case simulations from the field of international tax consulting in subject-specific or professional foreign language instruction at a foreign business school.
