The knowledge presented in the book about the relationship between humans and the environment addresses the influences and effects of the environment – topics at the intersection of several sciences. A central question is about the limits of human endurance. The aim of the work is to provide insight into the subject at the interface of various sciences. Methodologically, this is conveyed through the diversity of content and its connections in stress theory. The topics range from contributions in geography, biology, medicine, meteorology, and psychology to complex issues, such as environment and health, and human and space. Themes also include object relationships and environmental influences on development. The impacts of nature are particularly conveyed through the effects of climate/weather, energy (e.g., radiation), and chemical substances. Sound/noise, density/crowding, as well as psychosomatic environmental syndromes point to psychological stressors. Practical aspects are evident in areas such as housing, urban and place identity, learning and working environments, and rehabilitation facilities. The results of the presentation demonstrate the environmental dependence of humans.
