Product details
In the search for mechanisms and reasons behind the current situation of the music industry, the two comparable structural breaks of jazz and rock 'n' roll are analyzed from music economic and historical perspectives. After a review of the history of the internet and an explanation of the terms 'Peer to Peer' and 'Web 2.0', the present situation is compared with past upheavals, highlighting similarities and differences. The comparison shows that the current paradigm shift is triggered by the reception and distribution possibilities of 'Web 2.0'. The absence of a new revolutionary music style distinguishes it from previous breaks: today's revolution occurs in the reception of music.
