In 1979, Hans Jonas's main work "The Principle of Responsibility - Attempt at an Ethics for Technological Civilization" was published. It contains ideas such as love for distant others, the ethical imperative - also known as the ecological imperative - the heuristic of fear, humanity's duty to exist, the intrinsic value of life, and a critique of Marxist utopianism. How relevant is the issue analyzed by Jonas three decades later? How pertinent are his theses and arguments? What significance do they hold for Africa? In dialogue with Jonas, the author attempts to provide answers to these questions. This book is the updated and expanded German version of the French title "Éthique écologique et Principe de la responsabilité.
