This anthology contains thematically organized contributions that address the relationship between grammar and pragmatics, the challenges of defining them, and their interaction from various perspectives. The focus initially shifts from grammar to pragmatics and cognition, before changing direction to explore grammatical issues from the standpoint of pragmatics. Pragmatic questions are further illuminated from the perspective of text linguistics and genre studies. The picture of the pragmatic research landscape is rounded out by case studies on language comparison and language acquisition. The authors of the volume are representatives of Hungarian and European German studies from Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Poland, and Slovakia.
