Product details

In the past two decades, there has been intensive theoretical work on the genre of the adolescent novel in Germany. However, what remains is a thorough examination of the often vaguely used term of the postmodern adolescent novel in research. Therefore, this work dedicates itself extensively to the debate on art and literature of postmodernism, as well as the often rather vague discussion about the postmodern life worlds of young people. Based on a genre theory of the adolescent novel from 1900 to 2000, an analytical framework is developed through which selected works are examined in the context of postmodernism. The aim is to elucidate the various genre-specific and youth culture-specific manifestations of the postmodern young adult novel.
