This empirical study examines the religious beliefs of adolescents in vocational schools. The over 2000 respondents provided information in the years 1998, 1999, and 2000 about whether and how they believe in God, how they engage with alternative religious offerings, how they wish to shape their lives within their families and friend circles, their opinions on religious education, and which bands they prefer to listen to. There are shifts at the individual level as well as corresponding breaks with tradition, desires for closeness alongside distant behavior, a high regard for family and friends coupled with a drive for self-presentation, a surge in pluralization, and the option for personal style.
