This work illuminates the intense engagement of Anton Webern with the Austrian Heimat writer Peter Rosegger. It was based on parallels in their life stories, their mindset, and a deep longing of Webern for a lost paradise that he found reflected in Rosegger's works. Rosegger's influence on Webern's oeuvre was divided into thematic areas, with the close relationship to his mother and the mourning for her emerging as a central theme. Since Rosegger extensively commented on music and musical questions in his novels and stories, it became evident in the last chapter that, despite their opposing starting positions, similarities can also be found in their views on music. In summary, it can be said that there are more similarities between Webern and Rosegger than one might have assumed.
