The non-fiction book has hardly been recognized in the sciences so far, yet it could be one of the central subjects of cultural and literary research. It brings into focus current areas of work such as fact-based storytelling, popular culture, the mediality of knowledge, and the popularization of knowledge. Scholars from various disciplines approach the non-fiction book with their own methodological tools and explore the history and poetics of the genre. In addition to well-known and influential texts by Wilhelm Bölsche, Egon Erwin Kisch, or Sebastian Haffner, numerous newly or rediscovered authors are discussed: Valeriu Marcu, Anton Zischka, or Hanns Hörbiger.
